India looking to deploy smart Israel-developed barbed wire E-mail

India is deploying a smart Israel-developed barbed wire system along its border with Bangladesh. The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) is implementing an ambitious project called the comprehensive integrated border management system (CIBMS) as part of its plan to completely seal the India-Bangladesh and India-Pakistan borders in the next few years.

The aim of the system is to generate a “quick response team” when the CCTV-powered control room detects an infiltration attempt.

BSF is tasked with guarding over 6,300 kilometres of borders, which can be volatile and threatening.

“The new frontier guarding systems will bring a ‘sea change’ for the first time in this domain,” said KK Sharma, the Director General of BSF.

“The new equipment and technologies will be integrated, and a feed from CCTV cameras will go to the border outpost, where a monitor is installed. This will be monitored around the clock by two or three men.
