Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur speaks at The Women’s Foundation event E-mail

Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur from France was the guest speaker at a “Lunch & Learn” event on 2 December at the French Consulate in Hong Kong, organised by The Women’s Foundation. The event was titled “Women’s leadership voices in religious and spiritual traditions”.

Rabbi Horvilleur is co-head of the Liberal Jewish Movement of France, which is affiliated with the World Union for Progressive Judaism. She is France’s third female Rabbi and one of very few female Rabbis in Europe.

A former medical student and journalist, Horvilleur lived from 2002 to 2008 in New York, where she was rabinically ordained at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 2008. She is also a Knight of the French National Order of Merit, and now leads a congregation in Paris.

She is also the editor-inchief of a French Jewish quarterly magazine. With a passion for philosophy and public affairs, she is the author of acclaimed books about the role of women in societal discourse, feminism and the transmission of identities.
