A national convention of Indian Jews held in Israel E-mail

The second National Convention of Indian origin Jews was organised on 14 October in collaboration with Municipality of Yeruham, other Indian community organisations and the Indian Embassy in Israel. Various social-cultural programmes were organised as part the programme.

There are around 85,000 people that make up the Indian Jewish community in Israel. The first such National Convention was organised in Ramle on 23 September last year. An estimated number of attendees this year was around 8,000 people.

The main attraction of the event were the various folk dance performances by a 16-member Indian folk troupe – Panghat Performing Arts Group. The Group performed different Indian folk dances. The Embassy of India in collaboration with Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, State Bank of India and MoneyGram facilitated the group’s performance in Israel.
