Philippines Honoured with Holocaust Monument E-mail

Rishon Lezion will erect a monument to the Philippines, according to Mayor Meir Nitzan, in honour of that nation’s efforts to save Jewish lives during World War II. The Philippines Foreign Ministry has also formally announced the mayor’s recent decision.

Manuel L. Quezon, who was president of the Philippine Commonwealth during the war, offered 10,000 visas to desperate Jews in Austria and other countries annexed by the Nazis.
