Shemini Atzeret is alsof known as the ‘Eighth Day of Assembly’, falls on 22 Tishrei. The holiday, which immediately follows the seventh day of Sukkot, is considered a separate holiday. Simchat Torah falls the second day of Shemini Atzeret for Diaspora Jews. Israelis do not separate the two festivals into distinctive events.
