Jerusalem in Babylon exhibition – “We remember Zion” E-mail

Marking the 25th anniversary of the Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem and the 50th anniversary of the unification of Jerusalem, the Jerusalem in Babylon exhibition opened to the public on 17 May.

The exhibition, which showcases the phenomenal Al-Yahudu tablets, presents the evidence of the first exiles and provides a backdrop to the stories behind the destruction of Jerusalem and the Babylonian captivity and exile.

Featuring core material from the earlier By the Rivers of Babylon exhibition, which revealed the rare Al-Yahudu tablets for the first time, Jerusalem in Babylon tells the story of the destruction of the First Temple and Jerusalem and the exile of the Judeans to Babylon.

It concludes with an echo of Psalm 137, “By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and wept when we remembered Zion”, touching on the quest for return that has echoed in the hearts and prayers of the Jewish people for millennia.
