The article that was published in the November 2011 issue of Jewish Times Asia relating to the Synagogue in Chennamangalam, specifically the architectural and historical facts, are from copyrighted material written by Professor Jay Waronker of the USA, an architect and architectural historian, and Dr. Shalva Weil, Senior Researcher, Hebrew University of Jerusalem – Specialist in Indian Jewry.

The author of the article did not reference or credit Prof. Waronker and Dr. Weil for their work. We very much regret this oversight. Prof. Waronker and Dr. Weil have spent many years researching the history of the Kerala Jews including Chennamangalam. Dr. Weil has authored dozens of articles and publications in this field over many years and she was the editor of the acclaimed book, India’s Jewish Heritage: Ritual, Art, and Life – Cycle.
